Last week our family lost our dear friend, Sadie, to cancer. One of Sadie's favorite places is our lake house in Michigan where she used to go for beach walks (sometimes with her sidekick, Turtle). She was a beautiful, sweet dog and our thoughts and love are with her parents, Mary Ellen and Uncle Bob.
Thanks to everyone for the pet insurance advice. I spent some time reading reviews on www.petinsurancereview.com and then I stopped by Turtle's vet in Ann Arbor to get their advice. They suggested Embrace, which is the company I thought looked best after reading reviews and the plan coverage on the Embrace website (http://www.embracepetinsurance.com/). I purchased the "Everyday" plan, which costs $26 a month and covers accidents and illnesses up to $10,000 per year ($200 deductible).
Hopefully, we won't have occasion to use it, but I'll let everyone know how it goes if we do.
Here's a funny clip my economics professor played in class to illustrate the concept of moral hazard. Hope T doesn't get too reckless now that he's insured :)
Wondering if any of you purchase insurance for your pups? We've been reading more about it lately and trying to figure out if it's a good idea for Turtle. Knowing how adventurous he is (and most Puggles are), it's likely he'll get himself into a pickle one of these days.
Any providers you like, articles you've read or general advice would be much appreciated!
Turtle is home recovering after his neuter surgery. He wouldn't let me post a picture of him, because he didn't want his fans to see him "in such a state." But he said I could post a picture of his nemesis as a warning to all other dogs: When you see the cone come out - run!
Turtle went to Dr. Wong today for more puppy shots and also got weighed - 9lbs 2oz! That means he's gained just over a pound ever week we've had him. Good job T.
Dr. Wong called today with the results of Turtle's stool sample: roundworm. We won't post pictures for this one, but if you want to see what they look like you can visit this website. We gave Turtle a pill tonight that puts the worms asleep so he can pass them. Hoping it happens real quick.
Turtle has been sick for a couple days now with an upset tummy. We had to take him to visit Dr. Wong this weekend and now we're waiting for the results from his stool sample and getting no sleep.
